I know the question on your lips, but I have an unfortunate answer: no, Tony Campana did not travel with the Diamondbacks to HoHoKam today. (UPDATE: Oh, ho, ho, yes he did. Get ready to suffer at the hands of the aggrieved.)
Jeff Samardzija makes his second Spring start, and he’s likely hoping his slider isn’t “garbage” this time. Of course, even if it is, I think he’ll be just fine. Trevor Cahill takes the ball for the Diamondbacks, at least for the first couple innings or 40ish pitches.
Luis Valbuena gets the start today at shortstop, a position he actually played a fair bit down at Iowa last year. If he doesn’t win the starting third base job, and if he can really cover every position in the infield, it could take a slight bite out of Brent Lillibridge’s chances of making the roster. Only slight, though.
