The home opener is finally here, and apparently there’s going to be reasonably nice weather for those in attendance. Wrigley Field in April is a dicey proposition, but it’s still Wrigley Field.
Speaking of the weather, the wind is apparently howling out right now, which could make things interesting. Today’s starter, Edwin Jackson, isn’t really a groundball pitcher (though at least he’s not an extreme flyball guy), so hopefully he can keep ’em out of the wind.
As for the Cubs, maybe the strong breeze will be what their bats need to turn some of those warning track shots into homers. Brent Lillibridge is back in the lineup after a couple days off in favor of Alberto Gonzalez.
Also back: Ryan Braun, for the Brewers. He’s been dealing with a sore neck, but he probably didn’t want to miss the opportunity to hit some long flyballs at Wrigley today.
