Today’s rubber game in Seattle is soured a bit by the bummer Ryan Sweeney news. I’m guessing the Cubs won’t make that corresponding roster move in time for today’s game, and will instead just go with 24 for today, and figure out the best move during tomorrow’s off-day.
Edwin Jackson goes for the Cubs, and Alfonso Soriano is back in left field, thanks to the Sweeney injury (trickle down effect). I kind of which Dale Sveum would have just let Julio Borbon start in CF, so he could keep Brian Bogusevic in left field and Soriano DH’ing, where he’s been mashing. Is the upgrade from Borbon to Dioner Navarro at the plate really worth jacking up what was working so well for Soriano?
