Together, we’ve been raising funds for Make-A-Wish and its efforts to grant wishes to kids – including young Chicago Cubs fans who want Cubs-related experiences. On Monday morning, I updated you on our progress in raising at least $6,000 to sponsor a wish: we were about $1,400 away from that initial goal.
It took you less than an hour to put us over that mark. At every turn, your generosity astounds me.
To date, you’ve donated more than $7,300 to Make-A-Wish, and I can’t thank you enough. Because you reached the initial goal of $6,000, I’ll make good on my end of the deal: I will blog for 30 straight hours at the Trade Deadline this year. No breaks. No sleep. Just constant, over-the-top coverage.
Ah, but you say, Brett, didn’t you also say you’d tack on an additional hour for every $1,000 we donate beyond the goal (and didn’t you say you’d round up)? Yes, yes I suppose I did. So that means, at present, you’ve got me on the hook for at least 32 straight hours at the Trade Deadline. That’s going to mean starting pretty early on July 30, and ending after the deadline on July 31. It makes for a fun night.
So don’t take this as an ending point. We’ve raised enough to sponsor a wish. That’s a fantastic start, but it’s just a start. The more you give, the more I’ll cover at the Deadline. So let’s get this thing up to $12,000, and I’ll go for 36 hours straight. I’m not sure whether I can do it … don’t you want to find out?
Please consider giving what you can, and consider spreading word about the fundraiser. We can do a lot of good here, and I thank you so much for your help.
