You did it.
I have to confess that, when I set about working with Make-A-Wish on the fundraiser for this year’s BN Blogathon, I was a little nervous that we’d be able to meet the minimum goal of $6,000 to sponsor a child’s wish. I know how big of a collective heart this community has, but I also know that, when it comes to fundraisers, that’s a lot of money. When I added on the “extra hour for every extra $1,000 donated” thing, it was more about having a just-in-case built in. I didn’t really think we’d climb quite that high, but I figured I should put something in place in the event that you all shock me.
And you’ve shocked me. In the most delightful, rewarding, heartening way possible.
As of this morning, you’ve donated $12,100 to Make-A-Wish in support of their mission to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. That means you have now exceeded even the loftiest possible goal I’d even remotely considered when we started this process. You should be very proud to have done something that will mean a very real, and very positive change in peoples’ lives.
You’ve done something else, too: you’ve forced me to blog for 36 hours STRAIGHT at this year’s Trade Deadline. A deal’s a deal …
That means, starting at 5am CT tomorrow morning, and going straight through until 5pm CT on Wednesday, I’ll be here. I’ll be making posts, dropping comments, posting on the Message Board, sending Tweets, posting on Facebook, dropping a podcast episode, and probably going a little nuts (especially in the 2am to 4am range overnight – that’s usually a real treat).
The BN Blogathon is as much of a community event as the fundraiser has been, so your participation is encouraged. So do your own commenting, Message Board posting, Tweeting, Facebooking, etc. The Blogathon’s hash tag is #BNBlogathon, so put it to liberal use.
Let’s have some fun tomorrow (um, and the next day). You’ve earned it.
