I am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, and on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves) – for 36 hours straight, until slightly past MLB’s July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, Series Preview, Pre-Gamin’, EBS), as well as an uptick in rumor/trade posts.
Ah, the wee hours. You have arrived to challenge me. But I’ve got old medicine bubbles to combat you. More on that in a moment.

News and Rumors Since the Last Recap:
A little late-night Lukewarm Stove action, and Travis Wood is awesome with the stick.
Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:
Um … Jeff Passan writes about why division-leading and division-competing teams should be looking to add players right now (like the Red Sox with Jake Peavy). It’s all about avoiding that Wild Card playoff. That’s kind of interesting. We already knew that to be true, but it seems to be an underemphasized point this year.
Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:
Still snapper-dapper, captain!
Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:
Red Bull. Specifically, the red version of Red Bull. I gotta say, I’m not an energy drink guy. Even in the post-kids world, I’m a one-caffeinated-soda-a-day kind of guy. If I’m feeling crazy, I might have a chai latte, too. Knowing that I’d need a boost – and stuff to write about – I picked up a couple energy drinks at the store the other day*, and grabbed a Red Bull because I’m not sure I’ve ever really had one before. I chose the “red” version, because it said it taste like cranberries and – late night confession alert – I like vodka cranberry. Well, this “red” version does not taste like cranberry (vodka cranberry or otherwise). It tastes like medicine that someone has injected with bubbles. Neat. At least it’s giving me a jolt, and provided this paragraph of fun.
*How not into energy drinks am I? One of the set that I bought for last year’s Blogathon is still lurking at the back of our apparently cavernous fridge. I should probably pitch that.
Strangest Thought Passing Through My Mind:
Typing “jolt” made me think of Jolt Cola. Remember that? Whatever happened to that? Seems like it would have made a comeback during the energy drink craze.
