Well, at least the Cubs made the Cardinals fight for that division-clinching win.
Travis Wood got his 200th inning last night, in something of a farce – he pitched just one inning, giving up three earned runs, and saw his ERA jump from 2.98 to 3.11. Was it worth it? Is 200 innings at 3.11 more impressive than 199 at 2.98? As I said last night, I kind of hate these forced, arbitrary, and artificial achievements. If I’m Wood, I would have much rather finished my season with an ERA under 3.00, if we’re going to pick landmarks.
As for the game, well, it wasn’t much of one.
