If you’ve been awaiting one of the many mile markers along the way to the return of baseball, here’s one: tickets to the Cubs’ 2014 Spring Training games will go on sale starting this Saturday, January 11 at 11am CT. If you happen to be in Mesa at that time, you can go to Cubs Park to get your tickets, but, for the rest of us poor, unfortunate souls, there’s good old Cubs.com and 1-800-THE-CUBS.
The 2014 Spring season is notable, of course, because it marks the opening of the long-awaited new facilities in Mesa, Arizona. Opening Day for the Cubs at the new park is February 27 against the Diamondbacks, and I expect that one will be a relatively fast-mover, as far as Spring Training tickets go. The Little Boy’s first birthday and attending festivities are the next day, so it’s appropriately up in the air whether I’ll be able to make it out that way for the opener. I’m still working on the schedule.
That picture comes courtesy of BN’er Eric Pauly who was at the park recently for an event, and hooked me up with a host of fantastic shots. I will be sharing them soon to whet your Spring appetite.
