The Cubs will try again today after inclement weather scuttled both of their games yesterday. The Royals – and third base coach Dale Sveum – come to Cubs Park to face Edwin Jackson in his Spring debut. Carlos Villanueva will also see a couple innings of work, after Jackson.
The game is on WGN Radio today.
After what were to be a couple prospect-filled games yesterday, today’s affair features a relatively “regular” starting lineup:
- Emilio Bonifacio, CF
- Starlin Castro, SS
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Justin Ruggiano, LF
- Ryan Sweeney, DH
- Welington Castillo, C
- Nate Schierholtz, RF
- Donnie Murphy, 3B
- Darwin Barney, 2B
Interesting that, even with Ryan Sweeney and Justin Ruggiano in the lineup, it’s Emilio Bonifacio getting the start in center field. I’ll have more thoughts on his role soon, but it’s clear that the Cubs will want to make sure he can play all over if they’re going to count on him as a super utility type.
