Unlike this afternoon’s game, the Cubs had more than a couple chances to break through tonight, including the obligatory teaser rally in the 9th. But a lack of clutch hitting – and some ill-timed bunting – conspired to keep the Cubs at bupkis. That’s a shutout for the doubleheader for those scoring at home. Which is no one. Because anyone scoring at home today has already long died of boredom.
Michael Pineda looked pretty good tonight, and the ball wasn’t really flying much. Travis Wood was hit hard quite a few times, but didn’t actually give up a whole lot of damage – just a crap-ton of singles. At least Zac Rosscup had a nice outing in his one-day look-see.
