Outside of a strange stretch in the 4th inning where he couldn’t get his slider to the plate, let alone over it, Edwin Jackson was absolutely phenomenal tonight.
It didn’t much matter, though, because the Cubs could get nothing going off of Hector Noesi, a reliever against whom, for his career, the average hitter has hit like an All-Star. He lasted just five (dominating) innings, but the bullpen kept on holding the Cubs down from there. The Cubs’ bullpen allowed the White Sox to take the lead, and Pedro Strop had a particularly rough outing. At least it wasn’t a painful extra-inning loss.
