The Cubs, even after losing last night, can still take this series from the league’s best team. That would be very Cubs, even as they sit at the bottom of the heap in baseball.
Edwin Jackson is coming off of one of his worst starts in recent memory, and you hope it was just a meaningless one game blip. He gets John Baker catching him behind the plate, given the day-game-after-a-night-game-thing. For the last several times through the rotation, Baker has been catching Jason Hammel, and it’ll be interesting to see if there’s any meaningful difference in how Jackson pitches.
The Cubs will take on Big Time Timmy Jim, who hasn’t been himself in about three years. Indeed, his numbers of late bear a striking resemblance to those of Jackson.
A lineup switch-a-roo has Junior Lake starting in center today, with Emilio Bonifacio getting reps at second base.
