Kris Bryant Lasers His 20th Home Run of the Season (VIDEO)

Chicago Cubs

Good morning.

Good home run:

Each time Chicago Cubs prospect Kris Bryant hits a home run, I’m fascinated by the character of the homer. Some are towering shots that have so much carry. Some are opposite field bombs that look easy, and demonstrate Bryant’s natural power.

Then there’s this one, that, off the bat, it looks like a deep line drive that will probably wind up somewhere 50 to 75 feet short of the wall. Yes, he killed the ball, but it doesn’t have the lift necessary to get out.

And then it gets out. Fast.

After the homer, Bryant buoyed his season line to .353/.460/.701. Unsurprisingly, at that level, he’s finding it difficult to climb much further.

By the way: feel like an eternity since Bryant last homered? I can understand you feeling that way: he’d suffered through a three-game homerless drought. Doesn’t sound like much until you realize that you have to go back to May 15 to 19 to find a stretch of three games or more (5) where he didn’t homer. Before that? You’ve got to go all the way back to the end of freaking April.

If you’re desperately trying to figure out when he’ll be promoted to AAA, I’d look just past June 17, which is when the Southern League plays its All-Star Game, in which Bryant is tapped to be a starter.

Lastly, sparkle:
