Rather than folding, the Cubs actually poured it on – scoring four unanswered, and taking advantage of an injury-induced early exit by Francisco Liriano.
Travis Wood probably wasn’t as sharp as he would have liked to have been, but he didn’t give up many walks, and gave up just the one long ball to Andrew McCutchen (because he’s gonna McCutchen). The bullpen closed it down from there – and a bunch of them got in work.
Just a good all-around win, much in the way that last night’s loss was your standard bad loss. And, hey, the Cubs totally spoiled Gregory Polanco’s debut.
One thing, though …
