Oh, so *that’s* why the Cubs won’t consider offers for Travis Wood.
The Cubs won in the 13th against the Marlins, thanks to a pinch-hit RBI double by Wood after a dominant performance by the Cubs’ bullpen.
Jason Hammel actually had good stuff tonight, but managed to give up four runs over his six innings of work. Two came on the most laser-like Giancarlo Stanton homer you’ll ever see (no shame in it), and the third came after a leadoff triple that probably should have been limited to a double or a single with a better route in the outfield. That is all to say that, while Hammel got hit a bit, he didn’t really pitch badly.
The Cubs got three runs on a Starlin Castro bomb (he had three hits), and another on an Anthony Rizzo groundout. Those four runs were enough to push the game to extras, and everyone was scoreless until the 13th.
