This team is a little hot right now. Just sayin’.
The Cubs put up one of the crookeder numbers I can recall them putting up in an inning this year with a five-spot in the third. The big blow that inning was a three-run homer from increasingly sluggy shortstop Starlin Castro (who got lots of love here this morning). Chris Coghlan added a homer of his own later in the game (he’s actually fairly hot these days, too), and Anthony Rizzo had a two-run double.
The bullpen was mostly great today, and they had to put in four innings of work, because Edwin Jackson was out after five innings. He looked fantastic at times, but two walks and a homer in the fifth inning was his undoing.
