Mostly because the Cubs weren’t playing the Red Sox a couple months ago, and it wouldn’t have made any sense back then.
Today it does make sense, and, given the Red Sox’s struggles this year, it’s not necessarily even all that surprising. The Cubs haven’t done much offensively in the first couple games of this series, but the Red Sox did even less. Thus, the Cubs, behind Travis Wood, are on the verge of a sweep.
If they pull it off, the Cubs will have fewer losses than the Red Sox.
