Break up the Cubs! That’s four wins in a row, and another relatively convincing win on the road.
Jason Hammel was great once again today, allowing just two earned runs (one after he’d departed), and striking out seven over six innings of work. The bats really turned it on in the 9th inning, adding three runs and putting the game out of reach.
The outfielders did stuff! Each guy had multiple hits, with Chris Coghlan and Nate Schierholtz staying hot, and Justin Ruggiano notching three hits including a homer. His line is up to .271/.351/.466 with a .359 wOBA and 126 wRC+ (reactionary comment: he can start in the outfield next year, too!).
The Cubs’ run differential on the year, by the way, is now +1.
