Jorge Soler and Kris Bryant Show Off Their Ridiculous Power (VIDEO)

Chicago Cubs

I love the possible pairings for these fun homer recaps. Who will it be today? Baez and Schwarber? Maybe Alcantara and Rizzo in the bigs? Maybe Almora and Vogelbach do it down in Daytona (and someone is on hand with a phone)?

Today, it’s Jorge Soler and Kris Bryant, each of whom went deep yesterday.

Here’s Soler’s blast to center, and it’s pretty unbelievable:

It’s not quite the same effortless swing that Kris Bryant shows, but Soler had to reach for that pitch. For heaven’s sake, it looks like he almost hit it with one hand. And somehow, he hit it 400 feet to center. That’s just extreme raw power. With Soler missing so much time, I have to wonder how well scouts have been able to really wrap their heads around precisely how good his tools are. Everyone knew Soler had huge BP power, but this kind of thing? In game? He could be a monster of the highest order.

Soler is up to .400/.486/.783 on the year in 18 games between AA and rookie ball, by the way. That’s with 15 extra-base hits, 9 walks, and just 14 strikeouts. SMDH. Stay healthy, man.

Speaking of Bryant’s easy power:

It’s funny: Bryant actually looked like he swung a little bit at that one. Of course, then it went a million feet.

That was Bryant’s 31st homer on the year, which is amazing, because it’s still early July.
