The month of July is halfway over, which means we’d love to see our BN Blogathon tally up to at least $6,000 of the $12,000 we’d like to raise for Make-A-Wish, with the intention that it help support the wishes of young Chicago Cubs fans who would like a Cubs-related experience.
And good news! We’re up to $7,700, which means we’re well past that target so far! Thank you!
Remember: for every additional $1,000 you donate at this point, I’ll tack on another hour to the consecutive hours I’ll blog at the Trade Deadline on July 30 and 31. Right now, I’m up to 32 straight hours, but I’m willing to go 37 hours straight if you get the donation tally over $12,000 (that’s the cost of two wishes at Make-A-Wish).
So, please: consider making a donation to support a great cause, and to support me going over the top at the deadline. (Good thing I got my extreme sickness out of the way, right?)
And, in a well-timed reminder about what our efforts support, ESPN just put out a clip of eight-year-old Caleb Teisl from Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, who got to throw out the first pitch at Miller Park. And the young man did himself proud, with an absolute strike:
Your support of the Blogathon makes this kind of thing happen.
UPDATE: ESPN inexplicably chose the worst timing ever to take down that video, but, rest assured, it was Caleb throwing an amazingly accurate first pitch. So, instead, here’s the video on Batkid, one of the most amazing Make-A-Wish stories you’ll ever see (and there’s a baseball connection there, too):
