I am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, and on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves) – for 37 hours straight, until slightly past MLB’s July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, news, Pre-Gamin’, EBS), as well as a significant uptick in rumor/trade posts.
The first update of the day, which means spirits are high and there’s not a whole lot to say. Only 34 more hours to go. This is cake.

News and Rumors Since the Last Recap:
Well, there was no “last recap,” but there is already something: Jon Lester has been scratched from his scheduled start today, with the implication being that a trade is forthcoming.
Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:
Again, no “last recap” just yet, but the most interesting thing was clearly the Cubs winning in 16 innings early this morning, with John Baker notching the winning run and the “win.” That’s pretty much the only time you’ll hear me mention and celebrate a pitcher win. Because that is awesome.
Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:
We’ll see how the Cubs play things today and tomorrow. As of yesterday, each of Jed Hoyer and Theo Epstein suggested that some things could happen.
Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:
Just water for now. Gotta stay hydrated, and hold off on the caffeine for a little while.
Hat Status:
Brand-spankin’ new.
Strangest Thought Passing Through My Mind:
I slept like crap last night. Despite the best-laid plans, going to bed early and all that, I just couldn’t get to sleep. And then when I did sleep, it was totally fitful. Right now I feel OK, but I suspect that’s going to really bite me come the midnight to 4am shift.
