BN Trade Deadline Blogathon: Hour 6

Chicago Cubs

dusty sleeping blogathonI am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, and on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves) – for 37 hours straight, until slightly past MLB’s July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, news, Pre-Gamin’, EBS), as well as a significant uptick in rumor/trade posts.

It’s been a relatively quiet morning around baseball so far, but there’s still been a ton to write about. So that’s good.

And coming in two hours – at 1pm CT – the first live video cast of the Blogathon. If it works, it’ll be here at the site for you to watch. I don’t really know what I’m going to say or discuss, so have some questions ready to ask in the comments and on Twitter. Don’t ask them now, because I won’t see them. But have them ready.

Total Posts So Far:

News and Rumors Since the Last Recap:

Nothing really on the rumor/trade front, aside from some Royals outfield speculation. We talked about the Neil Ramirez arm issue, which is certainly interesting, albeit a little awkward. We celebrated John Baker’s great game, and Luke addressed some lingering questions from his midseason top 40 prospect ranking.

Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:

Mostly just me thinking out loud: even if the Red Sox are itching to move Jon Lester today, what if a prime suitor – say, the Cardinals, for example – has a preference for David Price, and wants to wait to see if the Rays will make him available before moving on to Lester? And what if the Rays are literally going to wait as long as possible to make a decision?

Just wait for that dance partner, boys.

Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:

It’s just about lunchtime, so it’s just a normal Coke Zero.

I knew this was going to happen. It’s a little itchy. Damn it.

I’m nervous for the first video cast. It’s live. Anything could happen!
