It’s the wee hours of the morning, and the threshold for dedicated posts is a little lower. So, this is an entire post.
Patrick Mooney wrote about the Emilio Bonifacio trade drama of the past 10 or so hours, including words from both Bonifacio and his manager. To me, the most interesting part was the word that a trade is coming from none other than Bonifacio’s agent. He told his client that a deal would be made, but the receiving team isn’t yet known.
So that’s where we stand at this late hour. Emilio Bonifacio’s performance this year has made him valuable, and, as an impending free agent, the Cubs are going to cash in on that value. We don’t know where just yet – perhaps the Cubs don’t know either – but there appears to be sufficient interest that a deal will happen. It’s just a matter of where, and what the Cubs can net in the trade.
The July 31 Non-Waiver Trade Deadline is in 14 hours.
