You don’t want every time Edwin Jackson starts in August to be about “how can the Cubs get rid of him after one good start,” in part because that gets old, and in part because it’s not really realistic. But, at the same time, in an otherwise lost season, these kinds of things do get magnified on the days Jackson is pitching.
The Cubs go for the series win today in Los Angeles. They’ll do it without a familiar face in the lineup: Starlin Castro gets his first day off, with Chris Valaika subbing.
