Travis Wood made one particularly bad pitch – out, over the plate, slightly elevated – and Eric Campbell parked it in left. Unfortunately, that one particularly bad pitch followed a bunch of kind of bad ones, making Campbell’s homer a three-run shot. That was enough to give the Mets all they’d need.
The Cubs’ strikeout woes continued, and I barely even want to talk about it. Zack Wheeler is a stud, and the Mets’ bullpen has some stellar arms … but, still, it’s very frustrating to watch.
