Kris Bryant left Saturday night’s Iowa Cubs game in the third inning with the team’s trainer, and fans held their collective breath. After an inconclusive x-ray on his left big toe, Bryant went for an MRI yesterday.
Fortunately, the MRI revealed no break, and Bryant has instead been diagnosed with a bruise in his left foot. He’s considered day-to-day, and was in uniform for yesterday’s I-Cubs game, though he did not play.
Bryant played a couple games (including the one where he hit the walk-off homer) after the initial injury, and getting the x-ray/MRI in the first place was always termed precautionary. So there’s probably not much here to be too worried about, especially given that he’ll soon have an offseason in which to rest up, if needed.
Whew.
