Cubs Minor League Daily: Time For A Comeback

Chicago Cubs

daytona cubs logoThe pessimist would look at Daytona’s loss last night and think that, now that they are down 0-2, the High A Cubs are probably not going to win their second consecutive Florida State League title.

The optimist, on the other hand, would be busy getting ready for Daytona’s epic three game winning streak to stun Fort Myers and claim the title.

As for me, I think if Daytona can get their bats going again they have a chance. Unfortunately, this FSL Championship Series is looking a lot like last years, only with the D-Cubs on the wrong end of the dominant pitching performances.

Scores From Yesterday

Daytona – The Cubs were shutout, 5-0.
Kane County – Kane County had the day off.

Performances of Note

  • [Daytona] Gioskar Amaya doubled for the 4th straight playoff game as he put together his 3rd straight multi-hit game.
  • [Daytona] Wes Darvill (with a double) and Marco Hernandez also enjoyed multi-hit games.

Other News

  • If Daytona is going to make an amazing come from behind charge to claim the title, it will begin tonight in Daytona. This is a best of five series, so if the 0-2 Cubs lose, they are done. Starting pitchers have not yet been announced.
  • Round Two of the Midwest League Playoffs begins tonight. Once again Kane County will open a best of three series on the road, this time in Cedar Rapids. Games Two and Three (if necessary) of the series will be in Kane County on Sunday and Monday. Starting pitchers have not yet been announced for this game.
