Cubs Minor League Daily: Then Fall Daytona

Chicago Cubs

daytona cubs logoThe repeat was not to be.

The 2013 Champion Daytona Cubs came from behind to the tie the game in the sixth, and that was how it stayed until a two run homer off the bat of Fort Myers’ Jason Kanzler in the eleventh inning gave the Miracle all the lead they needed.

The Cubs finish their Jekyll and Hyde 2014, a season marked by a second half as good as the first half was awful, as the runners up in the Florida State League.

Scores From Yesterday

Daytona – Daytona lost the series three games to one thanks to this 4-2 final.
Kane County – Kane County resumes play on Wednesday.

Performances of Note

  • [Daytona] Jose Rosario struck out 5 in 4 innings of hitless relief. He also walked 4.
  • [Daytona] The only extra base hits for Daytona were doubles from Jacob Hannemann and Dan Vogelbach. No one had a multi-hit game.

Other News

  • And just like that we are down to one team remaining. Kane County is in the Championship Series of the Midwest League, but that series does not begin until Wednesday night. The Minor League Daily will return on Thursday morning with the recap of Game One.
