I don’t care if it’s April in a season that will never be or September in a season that never was. Walking off against the Cardinals is a hell of a fun thing to watch.
So it was tonight, as the Cubs built an early lead, only to see it vanish on the wings of a Matt Holliday – who else this year? – two-run homer. No one scored from there for a while, so the two sides did the extra innings thing. And then in the 10th, Anthony Rizzo just missed a walk-off homer on a ball that wound up in the right center ivy. Clearly, he was just setting up Welington Castillo to play hero with a walk-off hit (Castillo homered earlier in the game).
Great night.
