As expected – not that anything involving the Cubs, Wrigley Field, and a Chicago political body can be fairly described as “expected” – the Chicago Commission on Landmarks today approved the Cubs’ request to modify the Wrigley Field renovation plan (Danny Ecker, Fran Spielman), specifically with respect to the outfield signs. You can read more on the changes here, but the gist is: six signs instead of seven, the right field video board shrunk and moved to the right, the left field video board moved to the left.
Based on tweets from folks at today’s meeting, there was quite a rant from the attorney for some of the rooftops who are currently suing the Landmarks Commission for approving the outfield signage in the first place. I’m sure there will be much more to say on that soon.
As for today: hooray! An approval!
