Hooray for More Televised Spring Training Games in 2015

Chicago Cubs

arizona cactusThe Chicago Cubs’ Spring Training broadcast schedule came out last week, featuring 11 televised Spring Games between CSN (7 games), WGN-9 (3), and ESPN (1). Which is awesome.

But, I mentioned at the time, that some Cubs opponents will also broadcast games in their own market, and those games would be available if you get MLB.tv. (And if you buy via that link, you support BN in the process.)

With a hearty thanks to BCB, there are at least four more televised games, making for 15 of 33 total that will be available on video of some sort:

Tuesday, March 10 vs. Indians, via Sports Time Ohio
Saturday, March 14 vs. Brewers, via FSN Wisconsin
Monday, March 16 vs. Padres, via Fox Sports San Diego
Tuesday, March 31 vs. Rangers, via TXA-21

There could still be more that will be televised, and there could also be games ultimately picked up by MLB Network (though those tend to be feeds originating with the broadcasting team, which would be on MLB.tv anyway).

Long story short: should be a lot of good video coming out of Spring Training this year. Last year, there were 10 televised games, which was up from 6 the year before. This is excellent progress.

For the non-televised games, you can still get audio for the vast majority. The full schedule is here.

UPDATE: Thanks to the heads up from Nathan on Twitter, I forgot to add the White Sox broadcast that CSN just released today (see this Tribune article) – March 20, against the Cubs. That was was not on the original Cubs schedule, so it’s yet another game to add to the list, which is now 16 televised games deep. Sweet.
