Jake Arrieta starts today for the Cubs, and will do something no Cubs pitcher has done before this Spring: hit for himself. We’ve reached the end of the DH portion of the Spring, and, so long as he isn’t pulled before his spot comes up, Arrieta will bat. (Something something DH in the NL something something.)
Today’s game is available live on MLB.tv, so get on that and watch. I think it’s also on MLB Network in some areas, but they’ve maneuvered the schedule so much this Spring I’m not 100%
C.J. Edwards is due to get into this one, too, so that’s always fun.
Today’s lineup:
- Chris Coghlan, LF
- Arismendy Alcantara, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Jorge Soler, RF
- Matt Szczur, CF
- Tommy La Stella, 2B
- David Ross, C
- Addison Russell, SS
- Jake Arrieta, P
No Kris Bryant again today as he gets over the shoulder fatigue issue. It sounds like he’s a tentative probably for tomorrow or Friday to play third base. We’ll see.
At third today is Arismendy Alcantara, getting his second start over there. I like how much the Cubs are seeing guys at various positions this Spring so that they have a realistic idea of what guys can do when the season starts. Versatility for the win.
