The Chicago Cubs welcomed an old friend to Sloan Park yesterday, and greeted him rather unkindly, with bomb after bomb after bomb.
Jorge Soler, Starlin Castro, Chris Coghlan, and Anthony Rizzo all took Jeff Samardzija deep, and you can watch each of the four homers here if you missed any of them:
The Soler homer was, of course, a monster shot on a horribly missed spot by Samardzija.
The Castro homer just barely got out, but it looked like Samardzija got the ball up and in where he wanted it – Castro just managed to get his hands in and around really quickly.
The Coghlan homer was fantastic, with him taking a pitch outside and driving it hard the other way with a nice, easy swing.
The Rizzo homer … ha. Definitely caught way too much of the plate, and Rizzo sent it, what, 430 feet? There’s nothing I like seeing more than a defensive player who simply doesn’t move when a ball is struck (watch the second baseman).
