Would you believe me if I told you this is the Cactus League finale for the Cubs? Well it is. As long as we’ve waited for the regular season, I’m not sure why I feel like the Cactus League went really quickly this year. The Cubs have two more exhibition games against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field on Friday and Saturday, but this is it for the Cactus League.
With a win, the Cubs will finish exactly 15 and 15 in the Cactus League. I’m not saying anything, but it sure seems like they’ve played much better once they began more regularly using the guys who actually project to be on the big league roster. Of course, that could be my brain tricking me – after all, the prospects behind the other prospects were the ones who came back and won yesterday.
Jason Hammel makes his final tune-up start, and today’s game is on CSN, or you can watch on MLB.tv if you have it.
Lineup:
- Dexter Fowler, CF
- Jorge Soler, RF
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Starlin Castro, SS
- Miguel Montero, C
- Matt Szczur, LF
- Arismendy Alcantara, 3B
- Jason Hammel, P
- Tommy La Stella, 2B
Dig that lineup.
Originally, Chris Coghlan was in the two-hole, bumping that middle section down, but he was scratched with a stiff neck. Hopefully nothing serious.
