The Cubs didn’t show a lot of offense in their two games (IN FIVE DAYS, AH! TORTURE!) at Wrigley Field to open the season, but Coors Field can be a nice cure for that.
Hopefully Travis Wood can keep the ball down, and neutralize some of the better lefty bats on the Rockies (indeed, Justin Morneau and Charlie Blackmon aren’t even starting). If he could provide a little offense, himself, too, that wouldn’t hurt.
Welington Castillo gets the start in this one, what with his familiarity with Wood and an opposing lefty on the mound. Matt Szczur also gets his first start of the year as part of the platoon in left field.
And look who else is batting their pitcher 8th.
