Pre-Gamin’: Padres v. Cubs (1:20 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Chicago Cubs

wrigley outfieldBack on that horse.

The nice thing about yesterday’s loss – yes, I’m going to play that part – is that there were a number of things that didn’t go the Cubs’ way in critical spots, and they still lost by only one, with the tying run at second base in the 9th.

The Cubs and Kris Bryant will try, try again today, facing Tyson Ross, with Kyle Hendricks on the mound. The two are different in some ways, and similar in others. Ross will get his strikeouts, but he’ll also issue some walks. Hendricks doesn’t really strike many out, but he also doesn’t walk anyone. Both pitchers, though, get lots and lots of groundballs.

These games against the Padres, although very early in the season, could prove important down the line – each of these teams are hopeful playoff/Wild Card contenders.

The Cubs’ lineup is a repeat of yesterday, with Miguel Montero coming in for Welington Castillo. Jonathan Herrera is getting more starts these days than Arismendy Alcantara.

The Padres are starting two players today whose first name is “Wil.” You are missing an L, gentleman. Hopefully the Cubs give it to you today.
