You never want to see the Cubs lose – like, ever again – but after a six-game winning streak, you know that the losses will come eventually. So, eh. I don’t feel too salty today. Maybe I wish the strike zone were a little more consistent, that the Cubs had brought up an extra bat for the day, that Kris Bryant hadn’t had to leave the game (due to illness), and that Zac Rosscup didn’t give up a couple late runs. Oh, and maybe that a couple early fly balls had gone just a little bit further, and a few line drives hadn’t been caught (that Pirates outfield defense is for real). But, even on all of those things, I don’t feel too strongly. It’s just a loss. It happens.
Jake Arrieta was fantastic, but the Cubs’ bats could do much against A.J. Burnett, despite a nice breeze blowing out.
