Chicago Cubs

So, how about that Stanley Cup, eh?

The Blackhawks were at Wrigley Field before the game to celebrate their win last night, and the Cubs might as well have kept celebrating from last night on into tonight, because the game against the Indians didn’t go well in pretty much any way. Jake Arrieta’s command was off all night (an erratic and tight strike zone, evinced by Michael Bourn and Miguel Montero both being ejected arguing balls and strikes, didn’t help), and it might have been his worst outing in over a year. Since he’s been so consistently awesome, though, you give him a pass. It happens to everyone who isn’t a machine.

The offense had opportunities aplenty against Trevor Bauer, but never came through. Zac Rosscup came in late, looked like something was wrong, and then left after pointing to his shoulder. Ugh.

Just a terrible night all around.

At least there was Kyle Schwarber making his big league debut, catching a half inning even before he took an at bat. That was definitely very cool (though tempered by the apparent Rosscup injury during the inning).

But, in the spirit of the evening, Schwarber’s first at bat lasted just three pitches. All strikes.
