Enhanced Box Score: Cubs 4, Dodgers 2 – June 22, 2015

I really can’t overstate how impressive what the Cubs’ bullpen just did was.

Pressed into service in the third inning, already down a run, in a game against the best offense in baseball (and the wind blowing out), with one of the best starters in baseball going for the other side, the bullpen was freaking nails.

Tsuyoshi Wada went down with a shoulder cramp (hopefully just a minor thing) in the third, and Travis Wood was great for the next three innings. From there, James Russell, Pedro Strop (who was particularly nasty), Hector Rondon, and Jason Motte got the job done. The only run given up was a 9th inning homer by Motte to Joc Pederson, who’s done that 18 times before.

This Cubs team, man. It wins games you wouldn’t expect it to win.
