The Cubs and Cardinals waited out a couple rain delays – a short one before the start and a long one after the first inning – but only the Cardinals came out of the second delay strong. Naturally.
The Cardinals were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and the Cubs were 0-10. It was the bane of the Cubs’ existence this entire series, and engenders so much frustration. The Cubs got plenty of guys on to win a game or two in this series, but, instead, they were swept.
That’s five losses in a row, including three to the one team the Cubs could least afford to grant additional wins.
Have a happy start to your week!
