Yesterday brought a particularly disquieting loss for the Cubs, but today’s another day. And it’s America’s Birthday! How can the team in red, white, and blue not win on America’s Birthday!?!
New lefty Clayton Richard slides into the rotation for the Cubs today, who will face Jarred Cosart, who is making his first start in nearly two months after missing time with vertigo. Hopefully he’s a little rusty, and Richard is hungry.
If the Cubs can get five or six decent innings out of Richard, you’ve got to be happy about that. Thing is, unless the offense is ready to really turn the corner today, Richard might have to be even better than that for the Cubs to win.
