I’d be lying if I told you that I thought, coming into today – and after last night’s game – that the Cubs had better than a 1% chance of sweeping today’s doubleheader.
Being that the Cubs did sweep today’s doubleheader, maybe I dramatically underestimated things. Or maybe this was that 1 in 100 day. Whatever the reality, it made for a great day to be taking in the Cubs.
Dallas Beeler gave the Cubs five strong innings, and was just about everything you would hope he could be against the Cardinals. The Cubs’ bullpen was ready from there (though the two runs Beeler gave up were of the inherited variety), including Jason Motte, who’d already pitched earlier in the day.
Still, the bullpen deserves some attention at this point.
