A little light afternoon fun: Gleyber Torres, very likely the Chicago Cubs’ new number one prospect, made a ridiculous play in the hole this afternoon.
Feel free to watch it on a loop:

I won’t make any comparisons, but you know what that play looked like.
Torres, 18, is uniformly regarded by third party services as the Cubs’ top prospect behind Kyle Schwarber, who will soon lose his prospect status. Torres is hitting .316/.380/.413 with South Bend this year, playing as the youngest player in the league for most of the season.
And he’s a shortstop. While reviews and projections of his ability there are mixed, you can see plenty of talent right there in that very play. If he can stick at short as he moves up the ladder in the coming years, there’s no reason to believe he won’t be a top 30 prospect in all of baseball.
Oh, wait: he already is.
