Chicago Cubs

That’s why we watch, right?

The Cubs looked dead after the 7th inning, when Travis Wood and Pedro Strop gave up a couple runs. It was going to be another one of those losses.

But then, after Dexter Fowler led off the 9th with a single, Kyle Schwarber worked an incredible, patient, and frustrating-for-the-pitcher at bat before taking the 9th pitch in the sequence WAY out to right field to tie the game.

It was awesome.

Then the Cubs’ bullpen held the Reds down for five innings, including two innings apiece from Hector Rondon and Jason Motte.

And, before the final half-inning of that stretch, in the top of the 13th, Schwarber did it again, hammering the decisive homer in front of his family, and the rest of southern Ohio, where he grew up. You can’t write it better than that, so I won’t.

I’ll just say again: this is why we watch.

And, all of baseball, meet Kyle Schwarber.
