Jon Lester was absolutely fantastic in this one. He commanded all of his pitches, he located extremely well, and the stuff was crisp. You do that, even against a great offense like the Rockies, and you’ll do well.
Offensively, the Cubs’ power showed up nicely, with homers from Dexter Fowler and Anthony Rizzo, but their struggles with runners in scoring position persisted.
Thanks to Hector Rondon in the 9th, the one-run lead held up, though.
