I am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, and on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves) – for 38 hours straight, until slightly past MLB’s July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, news, Pre-Gamin’, EBS), as well as a significant uptick in rumor/trade posts.
And now the Blogathon enters the tricky territory of simultaneous rumor/game coverage. Previous recap here.

News and Rumors Since the Last Recap:
The Astros did what the Mets couldn’t: completed a trade for Carlos Gomez (and Mike Fiers). Joe Maddon clarified his comments about Starlin Castro and a trade. A whole mess of rumor stuff here.
Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:
It’s definitely the Gomes/Fiers trade, because of the latent Cubs implications. It wasn’t a given that Fiers was going to be traded, and it was mostly a given that the Astros were going to try and pick up a pitcher – possibly from the Padres. Now, they’re likely out of the pitching market. The Cubs are not.
Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:
I’m digging the patience, actually. It seems like prices on pitching are not going to escalate from here. Might even come down as we get into tomorrow.
Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:
Nothing. Crap. I forget to be drinking things the last few hours. Even just water.
Rally Bucket Status:
Accompanying me on errands for The Wife.

Strangest Thought Passing Through My Mind:
I will be very bummed if the Cubs don’t win this game. That is not that strange.
