Jake Arrieta didn’t have his best command tonight, but he pitched well enough to keep the Cubs in the game into the later innings. The bats didn’t wake up while he was in, though, and it took a two-out, three-run shot from Anthony Rizzo to give the Cubs the lead in the 8th.
The Cubs added a couple insurance runs in the 9th (one of which was scored by Starlin Castro, who, I feel I must point out, made a crazy play and throw from his knee in the bottom of the 8th), and Hector Rondon came in to shut things down.
Hooray for wins during the #BNBlogathon! Now time to get ready for the next Live Stream at 10:45 CT.
