Here’s hoping Matt Szczur didn’t get on a plane yesterday, land, and then immediately have to turn around. The life of a 26th man, I guess.
Today, the Chicago Cubs made a short-term roster move, bringing Matt Szczur back from Iowa – he was just sent there yesterday – to take the place of David Ross, who goes on the bereavement list:

David Ross is on the bereavement list. Will be out until at least Tuesday. Szczur back up to MLB roster.

Miguel Montero and Kyle Schwarber will handle catching duties until then, and the Cubs are not projected to face a lefty starting pitcher through Wednesday, in any event.
Szczur can provide some speed off of the bench, and late-game defense in the outfield if necessary.
