Eight in a row.
Kyle Hendricks didn’t have his best command today, and, for him, because he doesn’t have killer raw stuff, that’s usually a day-wrecker. That was the case today, as he gave up free passes and got hit hard when he didn’t.
Fortunately for the Cubs, the bullpen stepped up with an incredible day – more on that in a moment.
The game, itself, was a back-and-forth kind of thing, with the Cubs mostly coming back on the strength of their powerful bats. Anthony Rizzo went waaaaay deep, and Chris Coghlan had two homers. Starlin Castro looked good at the plate, and had three hits in his first start at second base. The reunion was unkind to Jeff Samardzija.
So, yeah, so much offense to talk about. But I just can’t get over this performance …
Thanks to MBDChicago for the flyover pic.
