What a terrible way to head into the off-day. The Cubs plopped out consecutive losses to the Phillies that, although started by the bullpen and the fifth starter, were exceedingly winnable games. The Phillies certainly helped themselves in this one with some timely hits and stellar defensive play in the outfield, but the Cubs also afforded them plenty of leeway with mistakes on their own side of the ball and on the mound. The Cubs also left nine guys on base.
At least Chris Coghlan had a good day at the plate. And Clayton Richard pitched pretty well. There you go. There’s my positivity.
Now for more petulant negativity after the Cubs dropped their 5th of 7 games against the worst team in baseball this season.
